Welcome Suzy Cohen, RPh to Total Health Magazine Online.

TWIP: Suzy please share with our readers, who is the woman known as “America’s Most Trusted Pharmacist”?

SC: I’ve been a licensed pharmacist for over 22 years and I am able to share the pros and cons of medication use as well as offer natural substitutions for most any of your health concerns. I graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 1989. While I pride myself in ‘thinking outside the pill’ let me just say that I am still very proud to wear my white coat because I realize that there is a time and place for medications. We need to consider all of our options, and often, a combination is best.

A few months ago our good friend and associate Takashi Shioya, innovator of the Tsunami T-Wave laundry capsules, suggested Linda Gray would be an ideal consideration as the cover personality for an upcoming issue of totalhealth. He stated the multi-faceted Ms. Gray has been a highly visible wellrespected member of the entertainment community for over 30 years. And that from her introduction to the American public as Sue Ellen in the popular TV series “Dallas” has transitioned from acting to producing and directing as well.

“I want people using safe medicine.

It is a pleasure to welcome Chris Kilham to the cover of TotalHealthonline. The following is excerpt from the introduction to Chris Kilham’s organization’s Web site: medicinehunter.com, and provides an excellent overview of Chris’ commitments over the past 20 years.

Harvesters, scientists, trade officials and other plant medicine experts in dozens of countries. This work always involves a collaboration of talented people. Plant medicines are used by over five billion people worldwide. Here you can gain an understanding of the role of plant medicines in the world. Chris and those he works with are dedicated to providing healing benefits, protecting the natural environment, and promoting the interests of traditional indigenous cultures. Currently, global health care is in crisis, the natural environment is undergoing widespread devastation, and indigenous people and their knowledge are disappearing at a rapid rate. What can we do to help? At Medicine Hunter we focus on traditional plant-based medicines and their sustainable trade as a way to contribute to a better world.”

Lyle Hurd: Welcome Doctor Roizen, after having the opportunity to interview you on the radio, I’m really pleased to introduce you to our readers.

Recently, Time magazine did an extensive piece on you and the Cleveland Clinic, and what they talked about was this doctor doesn’t want to see you. Now I’ve met a lot of doctors and I’ve always found that they would like to see patients for a couple of reasons, and one is that it helps support the whole business that they’re in. You are Chairman of the Wellness Institute at the Cleveland Clinic-

Preface

As I finished the final edits to this book, the New York Times featured an in-depth article about the failure of conventional medicine to cure more cancers.

According to the New York Times, adjusting for the size and age of the population, cancer death rates dropped only five percent from 1950 to 2005.

What other technology has performed so miserably over this 55-year period? Would you accept a medical therapy that has not improved much since 1950?

In contrast, the death rate from heart disease dropped 65 percent in that time, and for flu and pneumonia it fell 58 percent.

The New York Times was especially critical of expensive conventional treatments that subject patients to much mutilation and suffering, yet yield survival improvements of only a few months.

Total Health Online was pleased to catch up with inside-out transformation expert, award-winning author and syndicated radio host Kat James who graces this month’s cover.

Twip: Kat, first let me congratulate you on your recent Silver Nautilus Award for the re-release of your classic bestseller, The Truth About Beauty, and for your nationally syndicated radio show, The Kat James Show, now in your second year and just expanded to satellite XM. and on the recent published success stories from your Total Transformation® Programs in the natural health media. Now that you’ve expanded your own reach and honed your Total Transformation Programs for another few years, how has your work evolved?

Having the opportunity to meet Ed Begley, Jr., author of Living Like Ed, a Guide to the Eco-Friendly Life, and co-host with Rachelle his wife of the popular television series “Living with Ed” was indeed a pleasure.

Many of us are familiar with and fans of Ed Begley through his work in films and on television over the past four decades. However only recently have we become acquainted with his dedication to living and promoting the imperatives to preserving our environment through an eco-conscious lifestyle.

Carol Alt first graced the cover of totalhealth magazine in February 2005. She had recently introduced her book, Eating in the Raw: A beginners guide to Getting Slimmer, Feeling Healthier, and Living Longer the Raw-Food Way. In her book, Carol explained how we could achieve our goals of feeling healthier, getting slimmer, and looking younger by embracing a raw food lifestyle. She defined raw food and explained why eating raw is more beneficial than cooked; as well as how to buy and prepare raw foods and how to eat raw when you are dining out.

A few months ago our good friend Doug Kaufmann, founder and host of the popular daily radio talk show “Know the Cause” and knowthecause.com, e-mailed me the following message: “Go to our Web site and click onto my interview with Suzy Cohen, America’s Pharmacist, watch it, then call me.”

As Doug suggested I accessed the Web site and the interview. The following 20 minutes were an excellent informative dialogue, which I would recommend to our readers and can be accessed on either knowthecause.com or Suzy’s comprehensive Web site dearpharmacist.com.

Then I called Doug whose first words were, “Suzy is truly a modern health care provider. You should really consider her for the cover of an upcoming issue.”

For over three decades Dr. Gary Null, who holds a Ph.D. in human nutrition and public health science, has been recognized as one of the foremost advocates of alternative medicine and natural healing. He has been a consistent voice on how to live a longer, more vital life through his work that embraces the body, mind and spirit and believes much of what our society accepts as inevitable markers of aging are actually manifestations of a preventable disease process. His philosophy has influenced countless Americans to achieve a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle.

Total Health first met Ann Louise Gittleman in the fall of 1995.

Ann Louise began contributing a column, “Eye on Women’s Health,” in the January 1996 issue. Since then, as an associate editor, marketing consultant, sounding board and friend she has been an invaluable asset to the growth of the publication over the past six years. Ann Louise was also a catalyst for the totalhealth Resource Guide to Health and Sustainability in Time of Crisis which appeared in response to the cascade of events beginning on 9/11/2001. She is also a contributor to the totalhealth Resource Guide to Essential Fatty Acids.

Denise Austin is comfortable using the term anti-aging as she continues strategies for health and fitness that she began at age 25. She told totalhealth that from the research she has done, “Aging is 30 percent hereditary and 70 percent life style. Isn’t it wonderful that we have some control over our aging process?”

“You can turn back the clock,” she says, through exercise and healthy eating, agreeing that “exercise is the ultimate anti-aging pill.”

Both men and women have control over the aging mechanism. For men the biggest danger is developing fat areas around the abdominal areas close to the heart. Says Austin, “What I really promote is good abdominal strength because it is the core of your whole body. If you can keep your abs strong, then most often the rest of your body stays fit.”

Cory Everson exemplifies the editorial goals of totalhealth magazine. She is an advocate of self-managed natural health, on a mission to share the precepts of productive longevity and definitely captain of her own healthcare team.

An outstanding high school and college athlete, Cory gained national prominence as one of America’s premiere female body builders. More recently she has been recognized for her career as a fitness expert on her “Gotta Sweat” show on Fox and ESPN2 networks, as well as her best-selling workout videos and books and Web site www.coryeversonpc.com and Cory Everson’s Fitness Adventure, a health and wellness clinic.
